Auntie & Unc’s Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner wasn’t something I dreamed about — but as a serial entrepreneur at heart, I knew I couldn’t pass up the opportunity when it came. One day, I saw a small sign on a gate in the neighborhood I grew up in. The space was available. I made the call.

After stepping inside and meeting the property owner, it all felt right. I wasn’t coming in with experience as a chef — I can’t cook a thing. But what I’ve always had is deep respect and support for local cooks and bakers, especially the ones working out of their home kitchens. For years, I believed their food was restaurant-worthy. Now, I have the chance to give them a platform — to help bring their talent to a wider audience and provide opportunities that many of them deserve.

Auntie & Unc’s is more than a restaurant. It’s a movement. A way to honor the flavor and feeling of places we grew up on — Mattie’s, GiGi’s, Chat n Chew’s, Dot’s Kitchen — while serving it in a fresh, modern way. This isn’t just about soul food from the past. It’s about creating a space that feels like home for every generation.

The name “Auntie & Unc’s” comes from what a lot of young people today call their loved ones — friends, mentors, even significant others. It resonates across age groups, bridging the old-school feel of grandma’s kitchen with a younger, vibrant spirit. And when my Auntie, Jaqueline Croom, became one of the first people to believe in this vision, I knew the name was meant to be.

We’re also committed to giving back — whether it’s helping aspiring food entrepreneurs or feeding those in need. Help is our mission to support the homeless and underserved in our community, and it’s just the beginning.
